Where and how to buy a Hungarian vignette

You can buy a Hungarian vignette in two ways: directly in the official NÚSZ system, or through an independent service such as ours, which registers it in the same official system on the buyer’s behalf. Either way, the vignette must be registered on the correct licence plate before you drive onto a motorway marked with the letter M — there are no longer any toll booths or payment points in Hungary, so the vignette must already exist in the system before you enter. You have two equal routes:

• The official NÚSZ system (the nemzetiutdij.hu portal and the operator’s shop) — buying directly from the Hungarian operator.

The purchase step by step

Buying online takes about two minutes. In our service you go through a few simple steps:

• Choose the vehicle category — D1 (passenger car up to 3.5 t and up to 7 seats, SUV, small van, motorhome up to 3.5 t), D1M (motorcycle), D2 (more than 7 seats / van / motorhome over 3.5 t) or U (trailer towed behind a D2 vehicle).
• Choose the period — 1 day (7 900 Ft (≈ 20 €)), 10 days, a month or a year (national).
• Enter the licence plate exactly as it appears on the registration document — character by character, with no stray spaces.

• Pay conveniently online and you are done — the vignette is registered in the official system and the confirmation with the details is emailed to you within 2–3 minutes of payment.

What to prepare before buying

To make the purchase smooth and error-free, have three things to hand:

• The licence plate of the vehicle — best checked straight from the registration document, as it is the plate that determines the vignette’s validity.
• The start date — the day you plan your first motorway drive; the vignette can start today or in the future.
• An email address — the confirmation with the vignette details will be sent to it.
